Health Policy

Printable Version (MS Word)

The incidence and severity of illness can be greatly reduced if we work cooperatively together to prevent the rapid spread of communicable infections among the children at our center.

A health assessment will be made of each child upon arrival at the center. If a child shows any signs of illness or infection, the child will not be accepted at the center. Any health concerns will be directly discussed with the parent.

If a child shows signs of illness or infection while at the center, the parent will be contacted and the child will be removed from the play areas until s/he is picked up. Parents will be asked to pick up their child within two hours, or to designate another adult to pick up the child. Children must be free of symptoms for 24 hours before returning to the center. This is for the protection of the recovering child; whose resistance is low and just getting well.

Parents are required to notify the center if they or their children contract a communicable disease such as chicken pox, giardiasis, shigelosis, hepatitis, meningitis, measles, etc. Parents will be notified if their child is exposed to a communicable disease while at the center.

All children must be immunized in order to attend the center. Parents are required to provide updated immunization as the child becomes of age.
