Room 5 (Terrific 2s &3s) Update
The 2004 - 2005 school year is rapidly coming to and end. It was gone by really
quickly, and we want to thank you all for your help and support during the past year. We
have loved and enjoyed your children and are grateful that you trusted us with their car.
Please mark your calendar for our End of the Year Party which is on Friday, August 19th.
This is our last official day of school, and the party is for the children and parents who
have spent time in our room, even if Fridays is not your regular day. The party is from
11:30am - 12:30pm in Room 5. If you have any questions, please ask a teacher. br>
We have received too many donations to thank everyone individually, but we are
truly appreciative for all the tissues, wipes, Dixie cups, fruit, crackers, toys, and clothes.
Your generosity has been overwhelming.
We bid a warm welcome back to Teacher Josette who some of you may know
from the Young Five Program, and farewell and good luck in her new job to Teacher Liz.
We look forward to seeing you all at our end of year party. Thank you from all of
us for helping to make our year so wonderful!
Teachers Jan, Maria, Liz & Pauline
ROOM 6 (Thrilling 3s and 4s) Update
The summer has been moving right along. During this time of year, we do a lot of
water play. Please be sure your child has a change of clothes for it is almost certain they
will get wet.
Thank you parents for putting sunscreen on your child and, don’t forget, we will
re-apply, if you bring a bottle with your child’s name on it.
During August, the children will be visiting Room C for short periods of time.
This will give the children a chance to check out their new environment and to meet their
new teachers.
Remember, August 18th is our End of Year Party, from 11:30am - 12:30pm.
Please mark your calendars and keep the date open. We are looking forward to seeing
you here.
One last date to remember, Monday, August 21st and Tuesday, August 22nd,
Children’s Corner will be closed for the new year preparation.
We have greatly enjoyed all the children this year, and are thankful for all your
help and generous support throughout this year. We have had a wonderful year!
Teachers Laura, Jeff, & Pauline
Tip from one of our Children’s Corner Parents:
When you and your family are going on an outing where there will be many people in
attendance, be sure to talk about what you and your child should do in the case of
accidental separation. Talk about who is a safe person to talk to if your child gets lost,
and think of a plan to either have a family meeting place, or if your child gets lost, to have
them stay in that spot.
Room C (Fabulous 4s & 5s) Update
All the children and staff of the “Fabulous 4’s & 5’s” would like to send BIG
THANK YOU’S to Cameron’s mom, Joanne, for the strawberries, grapes, and film,
William’s mom, Lisa, for the body glitter and homemade cookies, Jessie’s family for the
strawberries and booties, Theo’s mom, Beth, for donating “Down by the Shore” props,
cantaloupe and carrots, Jonathan’s mom, Nelly for the watermelon and Amar’s family for
developing our film.
The children have been enjoying the Summer Session Themes—for example: During
“Outdoor Adventure”, we went on a scavenger hunt, enjoyed learning animal and camping
songs, panned for gold in our outdoor river, and learned about Hootie Owl who taught us to
“Give a Hoot Don’t Pollute”, along with Smokey the Bear who says “Only You Can Prevent
Forest Fires.”
“Outerspace Adventure” introduced many of the children to the solar system and the
concept of living on the 3rd planet, EARTH. On July 20th, we enjoyed a visit from a real
NASA Astronaut and saw a real space suit.
Session IV is beginning... “Curtain Call”, during which time the children participate
in the production of a small play. They create the props, costumes, tickets, fliers, and have
rehearsals before inviting the other classrooms and families to attend a showing. This is very
exciting for all of them!
August also has Session V “Down by the Shore” which includes a beach atmosphere,
lots of water exploration inside and out, related songs and finger plays and eating lunch
picnic style outside.
We are experiencing a shortage in extra shorts and summer tops because borrowed
clothing is not coming back. Summertime includes lots of water play and changing clothes.
Please send a change of clothes in a plastic bag with your child so they will have dry clothes
to change into. Also, remember to apply sunscreen at home and teachers can re-apply as
needed throughout the day.
*Special Note: Because we have so much going on during our Summer Sessions, we are not
including a “Sharing” week during July and August. In addition, teachers would like to ask
that personal toys stay in the car or at home. This will prevent them from getting misplaced,
lost, or played with by others when they come to school
Julie, Iris, Chris, and Lynn
Notes to Parents From Parents:
Be cautious when you are leaving your personal items (purse, etc) unattended in your
locked vehicle when you make a quick stop to pick up your children from preschool.
Parent, Beth W. shared her story that in a matter of 9 minutes, her car was broken into
and her personal items were stolen. Thieves are targeting busy families who leave their
items in their vehicle thinking it will be safe for just a couple of minutes.
Be cautious of these types of situations.
