Emerging from the Pandemic
Covid-Sensitive Preschool Care
A Nonprofit Preschool in the time of COVID-19.
As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, we strive to provide the right care and the right environment to nurture children in a healthy and safe manner Since the onset of the COVID crisis, we have reopened and scored a 100% rating from families on our COVID-sensitive cleaning and disinfecting procedures while providing a sense of childhood normalcy to the children and families we serve.
Founded in 1979, Los Altos-Mountain View Children’s Corner is a play-based, developmentally appropriate, NAEYC-accredited preschool offering part-time and full-time programs year-round for children aged 2-6.
Our families live in the cities of Los Altos, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Cupertino and surrounding communities. At Children’s Corner, we believe that the primary purpose of early childhood education is to develop each child’s innate love of learning and discovery. We offer an outstanding developmental preschool, with low teacher-to-student ratios and full-time, part-time, and drop-in scheduling options.
Three Pillars of Reslience During Uncertain Times
Sensitive, Responsive Care
To support healthy child development during the COVID crisis, children need regular, age-appropriate connections with adults in their lives.
Our staff spend time safely reading, playing and supporting children to bolster their sense of safety and security during these times which can be difficult for them to understand.
Changes in social and emotional behavior are natural byproducts when family lives and routines are fundamentally altered. Signs of emotional stress include anxiety, anger and inscreased sensitivity. Most children will return to their pre-crisis selves with the proper emotional support from the adults in their lives.
We consistently work with children to learn how to talk about and manage difficult feelings while supporting their needs. Having appropriate adult connections provide critial emotional support to children who are experiencing a world of change.
Positive social connections are vital to any child's development. The COVID crisis has brought increase isolation for families which can leave damaging long term effects. Children need to interact with other children in play and in support.
We safely foster ways for children to play and interact. Kids can be kids in a safe, COVID-sensitive manner. We focus on outdoor activities that provide ventilation and allow for additional social space where children can play freely and safely.
"As a Los Altos kindergarten teacher, I have observed that children who graduate from Children's Corner have excellent academic and social skills and are well-prepared for kindergarten."
From our Families
Children's Corner's deep knowledge, authenticity and obvious love of kids and people shine through in the program they've developed.
All four of our children attended Children's Corner. We couldn't be more grateful for the foundation they laid for how our children started their education and growth.
Hollie H, Palo Alto CA
We feel very lucky to have found Children's Corner. It's a great preschool that is full of warm and caring teachers, many of whom have been with the school for over a decade.
You'll also find a great community of families with whom you and your little ones will find friends for a lifetime. We are happy to be enrolling our youngest child next year. We didn't even look any where else.
Bela G, Mountain View, CA
We discovered Children's Corner after touring many, many preschools and we couldn't be happier. We're big proponents of the combination of play-based learning with the personal care of low student-teacher ratios.
Wonderful, loving and patient teachers make this a special place. Our son is in his second year here and we will be sending his little sister here, too!
Carolina P, Sunnyvale CA
Children's Corner is a wonderful place to send your children to preschool.
Our daughters have recently matriculated into elementary school and we have a deep appreciation for how well the teachers and staff nurtured their social and emotional well-being. We see it every day both in their social skills and academic performance.
Amy C, Los Altos CA
Preschool friendships are critical in developing social and emotional skills, increasing a sense of belonging and improving cognitive capabilities.
Social and Emotional Development: Friends for a Lifetime
For children, making friends is a vital part of growing up and an essential part of their social and emotional growth. By sharing experiences and feelings, children learn to meet the social needs of others and their own. Our group of experienced teachers understand this and teach and model healthy behaviors.
At Children's Corner, your children will thrive by developing their relational skills while generating friendships that will last a life time.
